The 2018 edition of Students’ Leaders Development Training and Tournament (SLEDT) was hosted by the Youth Development Center of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Abeokuta Ogun State between June 4-7 2018 with the Theme Raising Responsive and Responsible Students’ Leaders For Institutional and National Development.  

An important aspect of this edition was the tour of the library where the life, work, achievements and adventures of the former president Olusegun Obasanjo was explained with pictures, artefacts and prototypes. The Students’ leaders were shown cars, helicopter and a space ship that played significant roles during his regime as Head of states and president.  Participants were also shown a documentary of why the former president started the library which was to preserve the past, capture the present and inspire the future in young people. He charged that the library has the sole intention to bring out the hero in them and to make them know that they can reach greater height because they can.

Series of lectures aimed at addressing the theme of the edition was anchored by seasoned professionals with cross-cutting experience on youths and educational developments.

 In the competition, the participating schools presented their respective administration’s achievements to the panel of judges. Various project aimed at improving the social-economy life of the students were displayed, however Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai, Niger State edged out the remaining four schools to emerged as the Best Student Union Government In Nigeria.

At the end of this edition, the participating students’ leaders agree to:

1. Ensure utmost peace on their campuses.

2. Co-work with management to move their Institution forward.

3.Create farms from their internally generated funds to supply healthy food their students.

4. Challenge students on their campus  on enterprise development and support them to partake in contest like Global Student Enterprise Awards.

5.Encourage all students to collect their voters card and fully participate in the coming 2019  national election
